Over a hundred comments and dozens of likes. That’s a record for a link posted on Google Wave’s fan page on Facebook! Not that they’ve announced an exciting new feature, or linked to a tutorial that makes their product comprehensible. No, they seem to have posted a link to a Flickr account with pictures of a naked Asian girl under the shower. Ouch!

Fan to become Like
Expect the “Become a fan” button in ads to disappear in favor of “Like”. Facebook has determined that its users click “Like” twice as often as the “Become a fan” button, so the company decided to scale back on the word “fan” and instead focus on “like” in order to increase brand engagement from consumers.
Facebook search adds drop-down list, Bing Web Results
Facebook today improved its search with the addition of a drop-down list that instantaneously appears while you’re typing in your search query at the top search box. It will display people, events, groups and pages you’re connected with, but “also the connections of your friends and globally relevant results”.

Looks like the new Facebook layout isn’t the only big news today. According to Michael Arrington, Facebook is preparing to compete with webmail giants like Gmail, (Windows Live) Hotmail andYahoo by completely rewriting its messaging feature. Makes sense, because when you think of it, it’s a superfluous step to receive an e-mail that you’ve received a message.
