Facebook search adds drop-down list, Bing Web Results

It’s clear that the world’s largest social network is hot on the heels of world’s biggest search engine. Last week, in fact, Facebook beat Google for the first time as the most visited U.S. Web site during an entire week. That’s why Facebook search isn’t just a handy feature; it could be a whole new business for Mark Zuckerberg’s company.

Unsurprisingly, Facebook today improved its search with the addition of a drop-down list that instantaneously appears while you’re typing in your query in the top search box. It will display people, events, groups and pages you’re connected with, but “also the connections of your friends and globally relevant results”.

Earlier this month, Facebook gave Microsoft’s search engine Bing a more prominent presence on the results page by adding a Bing Web Results button.
