A 36-year-old woman living in Henderson, Tennessee (USA), was arrested for poking someone on Facebook. By using the virtual “poke” option to contact a Hendersonville woman on Facebook, Shannon D. Jackson violated her restraining order which prohibits “telephoning, contacting or otherwise communicating with the petitioner.”

Unlike 55,741,686 other Facebook users, I’m not a virtual farm owner. I love animals and, yes mom, I eat all my vegetables, but I don’t like the idea of having to plow, plant and harvest every day when I could be hitting a royal flush in Texas Hold’em, or illegally parking my limo in Parking Wars.

Facebook Events has recently been redesigned to make it faster and easier for us to create an event and invite people. Along with the redesign, the Wedding event type has been added for those who want to get rid of fancy, handwritten wedding invites (look under the Other category). Wedding 2.0, baby!

You might have already noticed the green “Retweet” button we recently started placing at the beginning of our posts, which allows visitors to instantly “retweet” it while also keeping track of how many did. But since we’re a Facebook site in the first place, I wanted to add a similar button showing the number of Facebook shares.

Just two weeks after the first bust of a Facebook-addicted thief, another burglar made EXACTLY the same mistake of checking his Facebook account on the victim’s computer and not logging out afterwards. What did burglars do before the existence of Facebook? Make coffee at the crime scene? Grab a bag of potato chips and watch a movie?

The much-debated Facebook movie will begin filming this month in Cambridge, Massachusetts. “The Social Network”, its current working title, tells the story of Harvard dropout Mark Zuckerberg (played by Jesse Eisenberg) getting dumped at a bar in Boston and eventually adding the girlfriend who dumped him as a friend on his multibillion-dollar social networking site.

An American politician called Joe Moore once said: “It’s practically impossible to look at a penguin and feel angry”. So maybe that’s why Facebook this month added a cute penguin emoticon to the existing arsenal of Facebook Chat emoticons, to compensate for the aggressive shark emoticon added back in May.
