The much-debated Facebook movie will begin filming this month in Cambridge, Massachusetts. “The Social Network“, its current working title, tells the story of Harvard dropout Mark Zuckerberg (played by Jesse Eisenberg) getting dumped at a bar in Boston and eventually adding the girlfriend who dumped him as a friend on his multibillion-dollar social networking site. Justin Timberlake joins the cast as Sean Parker, co-founder of Napster, Plaxo (and later on also the popular Facebook application Causes) who became founding president of Facebook when the company incorporated.
The screenplay is based on “The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook. A Tale of Sex, Money, Genius and Betrayal” by Ben Mezrich, and has been adapted by Aaron Sorkin, known from movies like “Charlie Wilson’s War” and “A Few Good Men”. David Fincher of Fight Club fame is likely to direct.
For those in the area, the Loaded Gun reports that filming will start at Harvard Square, Cambridge on October 19th. Chances are high they’re going to need extras for the scenes around Harvard, so keep your eyes and ears open. While several scenes will be shot in Cambridge and Boston, parts of the movie will also be filmed in California, home of the Facebook head offices.
