Twitter Beats Facebook For Brands

While it’s an absolute necessity for brands to have a presence on Facebook, a recent study by Compete.com shows that Twitter is the preferred social network for driving purchases, recommendations and website visits.
Fifty-six percent of the people following a brand on Twitter are likely to purchase one of its products, while less than half of those who Like it would do the same. Twitter also has a small advantage over Facebook in driving website visits (62 versus 60 percent), and recommendations (59 versus 55 percent).
When users were asked about the reasons for following or liking a brand, Twitter has the upper hand in every single category. It is definitely the most popular social network for receiving updates on future products, learning and staying informed about a company, (direct) interaction and customer service, and learning about related topics.
The study also found that one out of three Facebook users access the site on their phones, but the mobile platform is even more popular with Tweeters (43 percent).
