Under the Young Zuck pseudonym, New York-based rapper JKila has written and recorded the Social Network rap song “CEO” based on the storyline of the recent David Fincher movie. In the video, Mark Zuckerberg is manipulated to rap to a hip hop remix of the soundtrack used in the Facebook movie trailer.
David Ippolito, better known to countless tourists and New Yorkers as That Guitar Man from Central Park, has recently debuted “The Facebook Song”. Subtitled “What the f%#k is FarmVille!?”, the NYC-based singer-songwriter brings up all the mundane things that people tend to share on the social network, only to conclude with the very catchy chorus that “Facebook is a stupid idiot”
Parents on Facebook are such a widespread PITA it served as a source of inspiration for yet another song titled “My mom’s on Facebook”, following The Outside Joke’s pop song from a few months ago. This second version comes from an LA-based comedy group going by the name of Back of the Class and recorded an over the top hair metal anthem about the dreaded subject.
Submitted as an entry for a local parody music video contest, Facebook State of Mind takes the Jay-Z and Alicia Keys song to a whole new level. Unlike Empire State of Mind’s love declaration to New York City, this Facebook version of the song, written by Alexander Miller and Justin Lang, pays tribute to everyone’s favorite social networking site of the moment.
The 25-year-old Colombian singer and songwriter, Esteman, has written a song about his friends’ doings on Facebook, and the unavoidable avalanche of friends and event requests. Except for one “ladies and gentlemen” sample, the song is entirely sung in Spanish, but may we warn you that its instantly catchy pop melody will get stuck in your head for a while.
A real, yet only slight Facebook redesign is just around the corner, so we prefer to dream about a more exciting, completely new approach to the social network’s user interface. Kudos to the guys at Thinking Out Loud for creating the Facebook Facelift project, a fingerlicking smooth UI prototype I bet you’ll want to spend hours playing with.
