Facebook Removes Comment Button, Just Press Enter To Post Your Comment

Facebook has removed the good old “Comment” button from underneath the comments box, and replaced its functionality entirely with the Enter/Return key (“Press Enter to post your comment“). While saving us a mouse click, this change is likely to cause a lot of confusion and many unfinished comments as users expecting to start a new line in their reply will immediately publish their incomplete commentary by hitting “Enter”.

  • If you want to start a new line in comments, you have to hold Shift and press Enter.
  • On iPhone/iPad and other touchscreen devices, try Caps + Return for a new paragraph.

Press Enter to post your comment

Dozens of protest pages have already been created, asking Facebook to get rid of the “Press Enter to post you comment” function and bring back the button. Do you want it back?

UPDATE: If you want to edit your message, click the X in the top right corner right after posting it. If you wait a few minutes, the editing ability disappears and you can only remove it.

Thanks to Steven J. for the tip!
