How can I change my Facebook username?

When you carefully chose your Facebook username, you were made to believe it was for life. But Facebook has now quietly added the option to change the unique URL that leads to your profile. You get one extra shot to modify your Facebook username. Maybe that’s good news for Brennan M Smith, who chose facebook.com/heywood.jablowme in a probably very jolly mood.

How to change your Facebook username or profile/vanity URL:

  1. Click Settings or visit this URL to go to your account settings.
  2. Click the Change link next to Username or right above your current Facebook username.
  3. Change your current username and check for availability. If it’s available, you’ll have to click the final confirmation window to finalize the change.

  • I was thinking they must change their minds and allow people to change them as if you used something like fb.com/firstname.lastname if you ever changed your name by getting married for example, you would want to change it!

  • Good thinking, that makes sense.

It also seems like they would let you change it more than once. Lke if you got married and changed it, then got divorced. You obviously wouldn't want your ex's last name in your username! And then what if you remarried and wanted to change it again?

  • i agree with you all cause if you change it and then when u get older you'll want to cange it because it sounds funny or its not you anymore. or you hate it. an as for divorse or marrige things change in time and they dont understand that but there is still time that they will change the username thing so we can change it anytime and it'll be great to change or fix your username

    Thanks..!!! i reallu needed it…!` x
