Memorable Stories From Your Facebook Past

Along with the site wide roll out of the new profile, a less apparent addition to Facebook’s layout appears to be a new sidebar item titled Memorable Stories.

Memorable Stories is a randomly appearing anthology of your past status updates, likely selected by the number of likes and comments they attracted back when they were fresh. This list of “classic” status updates is shown only to you, but you can still hide the ones you deem less noteworthy. We haven’t personally seen the item show up yet, but we found this screenshot shared by Lindsey:

From the first reactions to the feature, we gather that “memorable” is a bit of an overstatement for most of the selected statuses… unless Facebook is intentionally being sarcastic, which is doubtful. What do you think is the purpose of Memorable Stories? And how momentous are the moments Facebook picks for you?
