Fix your Facebook News Feed

Several of our readers have written us to complain about the recently updated News Feed. Some of you complain about the lack of activity and fresh content, others don’t see the status updates of people they really care about. The problem is that Facebook tries to determine the people (and Pages) you’re interested in, based on your history of interactions with them (eg. tags, likes, and comments). And while Facebook has already tried to adjust some settings, the background process still doesn’t seem to work out for everyone of us. But today we’ll show you what you can do to improve the quality (and quantity) of your news feed.

1. First, at the top of the Facebook, select Most Recent edition instead of the Top News version of your News Feed.

2. Now scroll all the way to the end of your News Feed (not necessarily the bottom of the screen) and click Edit Options.

3. By default, Facebook only shows 250 of your friends and Pages in the feed. You might want to change that number to the maximum. Theoretically that’s 5000, but just enter 9999 to be future proof.

4. Optionally, you can specifically choose the friends and Pages you want to track by clicking View Recommended Friends and then individually selecting those (a baby blue background means the item is selected). Don’t forget to click the Save button when you’re done.

There you go! Now you won’t miss a thing your best friends post… if you spend enough time on Facebook that is.
