Help, I Don’t Understand Facebook Anymore! How Do I Change My Language Setting Back To Normal?

Ah, that good old Facebook prank of changing someone’s status update when that person is briefly away from his or her computer, or simply forgot to sign out on yours. The finishing touch of that prank is to change that person’s language settings into something incomprehensible in order to make it harder to delete the awkard status update upon discovery. Imagine yourself trying to browse through gibberish* like this:
*Oh, you speak fluent Føroyskt, do you?
Lately, we received a few emails from users lost in translation, asking how they could reset their Facebook language setting. Surely, they’re all victims of the above prank (nobody intentionally changes their language to traditional Chinese, right?) and, all fun aside, we’re here to help them. So here’s the two-click solution:
- Visit this link.
- From the dropdown menu next to Language, choose your preferred language and click the blue button (which says “Save Changes” in whatever funny wording).
