Last week Facebook launched an additional mobile version of the site that includes all the key features but is accessible completely free of data charges.

Today’s big news on Facebook is, of course, the simplified privacy controls which are being rolled out as we speak at http://facebook.com/privacy. The just turned 26-year-old Mark Zuckerberg personally announced them earlier today.

We used to be able to easily move pictures from the Mobile Uploads folder straight into any other Facebook photo album, but for some obscure reason, the “Move to” option has recently been removed from the most recent Mobile Uploads album. There’s still a way to move pictures out of your Mobile Uploads, but Facebook has made it very inconvenient to do so.

Hundreds of thousands of personal phone numbers are available publicly on Facebook. But don’t blame Facebook’s vague privacy controls just yet. The people who’ll pick up the phone when you dial one of these private numbers have shared them openly, although most likely unsuspectingly.

The latest malware attack on Facebook is spreading as a fake video of “Distracting Beach Babes”. If clicked, the following message is automatically posted to friends’ walls:

At the time of writing, 12,470 people have committed to quit Facebook on May 31st. They call it Quit Facebook Day and it’s a reaction to, like Wired describes it, Facebook gone rogue. We’d like to give these thousands of people the same advice as we’d give to those who want to stop smoking, gambling, or doing drugs: stop the drama! JUST DO IT. Today. In the next five minutes.

Subtitled “What the f%#k is FarmVille!?”, the NYC-based singer-songwriter brings up all the mundane things that people tend to share on the social network, only to conclude with the very catchy chorus that “Facebook is a stupid idiot”
