Status Saturday: Social Experiment

On a recent Status Saturday we posted 10 status updates that would definitely trigger comments. Currently, there’s a status update spreading around my Facebook friends like the Mexican flu, which explicitly requests comments from your Facebook friends. If that doesn’t yield at least one comment, well, then your friends must be really reticent.

The status update starts with saying it’s a “social experiment” and then makes an appeal to Facebook friends to share a single story or memory about their relationship with the poster:

Social experiment: if you read this, even if we don’t speak often, post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want, either good or bad. When you’re finished, post this paragraph on your own status and you will be surprised with what people remember about you.

I’ve also encountered a Dutch version:

Sociaal experiment: als je dit leest, schrijf dan als reactie een herinnering die je hebt aan mij, ook al zien we elkaar niet vaak. Het mag eender wat zijn, goed of slecht. Als je klaar bent, kopieer deze paragraaf dan naar jouw status en het zal je verrassen wat mensen zich van jou herinneren.

If you’ve seen any other translations, feel free to post in the comments.

If you decide to post this status update, enjoy the nostalgia! :)
