Free mobile Facebook access at 0.facebook.com

Last week Facebook launched an additional mobile version of the site that includes all the key features but is accessible completely free of data charges. Located at 0.facebook.com and currently only available in the 45 countries and on the 50 mobile networks listed below, the gratis mobile site allows you to update your status, view your News Feed, like or comment on posts, send and reply to messages, or write on a friends’ Wall. The only thing missing are photos, which is the secret behind the fast loading times and the zero (hence “0”) data charges.

People will only pay for data charges when they view photos or when they leave 0.facebook.com to browse other mobile sites. When they click to view a photo or browse another mobile site a notification page will appear to confirm that they will be charged if they want to leave 0.facebook.com.
