5 ideas for Facebook April Fools’ Day jokes

Are you looking for last-minute inspiration for an April Fools’ Day joke? Luckily for you, Facebook is the best medium to play a prank on your friends. Here are five Facebook Fools’ suggestions, but feel free to add your ideas in the comments!

Set your birthday to April 1st and watch how the people who don’t really know you that well start wishing you a happy birthday. If you don’t know how to change your birthday, go to your own profile and click the info tab. Now click “Edit Information”, change your birthday to April 1st in the Basic Information section and finally click “Done Editing”.

Expect lots of people to be changing their relationship status on April 1st. Some of your witty friends will suddenly get married, others will be single after a 10-year marriage. But you can up the ante if you keep changing yours, every hour or two. Go through all possible relationship statuses and drive your friends nuts.

Silently announce a pregnancy by uploading a picture of a positive pregnancy test to your wall. Right-click and save the image below to your desktop, go to your own Facebook profile and in the box where you’d normally type your status updates, click the Photo icon next to Attach. Now choose “Upload a Photo”, find the picture file on your computer and click the Share button. Wait for people to congratulate you. Increase the drama and use this in combination with a relationship status change to “Single” (works best if you change this status a few hours after your announcement).

In case you’re actually already expecting a child, just post “Triplets!”, “Quadruplets!”, etc. as a prank status update.

Some funny April Fools’ status updates you could post:

…violated his/her parole again. Bye bye Facebook!
…won half a million on a scratchcard last night, no more work for me!
…decided to sell all his/her properties and live like a hermit in Mongolia.

(Seriously, I’ve seen someone post that crazy last one…)

Or you could change your profile picture to this sexy optical illusion and trick people into thinking you’ve gone full disclosure on your Facebook profile. Upon closer inspection, they’ll see it’s just a picture of a lamp. If you don’t know how to modify your profile picture, first right-click and save the image below to your computer and then go to your profile and hover over your current profile pic. Click the “Change Picture” link that appears and choose “Upload a picture”. Now select the file you just saved on your computer and hit enter.”

Have fun and happy April Fools’ Day!
