PS3 adds Facebook

Sony today released the 3.10 firmware update for the PS3 video game console, which includes Facebook integration. The move comes one day after Microsoft added similar functionality to their Xbox gaming system.

From 1up.com:

Facebook integration is the update’s centerpiece, enabling the PS3 to share Trophy updates and other information with the service’s news feed. Of particular interest is the game-specific event updates, which [network operation director Eric] Lempel says is the result of developers asking how they can start “feeding out information” about their games.

It shouldn’t be long before the event updates start becoming available in PS3 games. The tools have already been sent out to Sony’s first-party developers, Lempel said.
